Peyton began her architectural career at the University of Michigan, transferring into Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning after befriending several architecture students in her math class. She graduated from the University of Michigan with her Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2018, and from the University of Houston with her Master of Architecture in 2023. She is LEED AP BD+C certified and is an Associate AIA member. Peyton is currently studying for her ARE exams and continues to work diligently towards her goal of becoming a licensed architect while enjoying her time in Dallas as an Architectural Intern at DSGN Associates.
Her current work focuses on material fabrication methods and physical furniture design. Her project, Kinetic Homeostasis, encourages interaction with the environment as well as with each other. Pieces in the collection are designed with thought towards the individuality of each human body - instead of asking the body to conform to a predesigned shape, the furniture molds itself to the body. Materials are selected for strength to allow a wide variety of body shapes and sizes. Because of the heavy weight, users are encouraged to work together to interlock or pull apart pieces as desired. When locked together, the pieces are unmoving. When standing alone, each piece has the ability to rock given a push but will always settle back onto the point of balance. As she continues to push her design further, she aims to clarify questions of mass-production capability and cost as well as physical comfort and limitations of the objects themselves.
Peyton is an amateur photographer, outdoor enthusiast, and enjoys spending time country-western dancing and playing dive bar pool. She also dreams of having her own wood and metal shop to continue exploring her passion for furniture design.
